CODING INFORMATION REQUIRED ON PAGING ORDERS

Ordering Information

General Information

In order to enable orders for paging equipment to be processed without unnecessary delay, the following information must be provided via the area office:

  1. RF FREQUENCY REQUIREMENTS. Although Paging encoders/terminals are not frequency sensitive, the system operating frequencies are required for proper customer file establishment, Code usage and record keeping. The RF frequency should be listed in the special instructions section of the STIC for the paging encoder/terminal.

  2. FREQUENCY CHANGES. Since all information on paging systems is filed in the plant by RF frequency, the plant must be notified of any changes in these frequencies. If the plant is not notified, the customer 's particular system cannot be located in the records and orders for additional equipment will be put on hold and further information will be requested .

  3. MULTIPLE ENCODERS. If more that one encoder is ordered for a new system, the order must state how they are to be coded. Are the encoders to be coded alike or are they to carry separate sets of codes?

  4. ADDITIONAL ENCODERS. Whenever additional encoders are ordered for an existing system, the order must specify whether the
new encod- ers are to be coded the same as those existing or whether new sets of codes are to be assigned.

  5. CUSTOMERS SERVICED BY COMMON CARRIERS. Orders from customers who receive service from COM- MON CARRIERS must include the codes for the pagers ordered. In addition, the COMMON CARRIERS name must be specified.

  6. EXPANSION KITS. The plant must be notified whenever encoder expansion kits are ordered from the Parts Department and field in- stalled. Without this information the plant is unaware that system capacity has increased.

  7. BINARY GOLAY SEQUENTIAL CODES (GSC) Plant will assign codes on new systems. For compatibility with existing systems consult your Area Systems Engineering Office.

SP REQUIREMENTS

Contact your Area Systems Engineering Office for availability, price and delivery of any nonstandard paging encoders, terminals, systems, or code plans.
